This information has been obtained through extensive research and an interview with a Dalmatian/Roan breeder.
What is a lethal white? Lethal white syndrome is a disease in guinea pigs that is most commonly caused by the roan gene. Any guinea pig with even the slightest patch of roaning could be a carrier and should NEVER be bred with another roan/roan patched guinea pig. It causes the baby to have small or no eyes, deformed or no teeth and possibly smaller ears. They are usually blind, deaf or both.
